I joined the William James lab in October 2022 to take on the role of the Containment level 3 facility manager, general lab manager and researcher. The CL3 lab at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology is a three laboratory suite allowing work to be undertaken on ACDP level 3 pathogens, the pathogens we currently have HSE permission to work on are Sars-CoV 2 and HIV. With the help of the fantastic Dunn school workshop staff I am responsible for the safe running of the facility including training and monitoring users, ensuring SOP’s and working practices are up to date and liaising with the Department and University Safety Office. Prior to joining this group I was the Lab Manager for the Zitzmann group in the Biochemistry Department, University of Oxford and before that I worked at the institute for Animal Health, Compton Laboratory (Now the Pirbright Institute).

I have extensive experience of working with a number of RNA viruses including Sars-Cov 2, dengue, Zika, HCV, BVDV and Influenza A.

Outside of work I enjoy baking and spend quite a lot of time being a MAWIL, road cycling and MTBing around the Berkshire/Oxfordshire countryside.
